Prof. T. Sundararaman

Health Systems and Health Policy Studies, Puducherry

Dr Sundararaman’s main contribution has been in the area of health systems strengthening and health policy. He served as executive director, State Health Resource Centre,Chhattisgarh ( 2002-07) and then as executive director, National Health Systems Resource Centre (2007-14) then as visiting professor in CSMCH in JNU for one year and then as Professor and Dean of the School of Health Systems Studies (2015-19), and then as Global Coordinator, Peoples Health Movement ( 2019-22). An MD in Medicine, he began his career in the faculity of medicine, JIPMER, where he is presently an adjunct faculity in its school of public health. He has also been an activist with peoples science movements and peoples health movements, and contributed to campagins and advocacy for health rights  in India from 1984 to the present.

Dr. Ganapathy Murugan

Former Executive Director Public Health Resource Society

Dr Ganapathy Murugan is a public health practitioner with more than 15 years of experience in large-scale program design, implementation, and leadership in the not-for-profit sector in areas related to public health and nutrition.  From 2008 to 2018 he was part of the leadership of the Public Health Resource Network, serving as its executive director from 2010 to 2018. Earlier in year 2007 he was awarded his doctorate from the Centre of Social Medicine and Community Health, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.

Dr. Samir Garg

Former Executive Director at State Health Resource Centre, Chhattisgarh

Dr Samir Garg, was till recently Executive Director at the State Health Resource Centre, Chhattisgarh. He has been in a leadership position in this organization since 2010 and has contributed extensively to health systems strengthening in the state as well as academically to a number of publications in the area of health systems and health policy. He has a doctorate in public health and health management, from TISS, Mumbai.

Dr Samir Garg, was till recently Executive Director at the State Health Resource Centre, Chhattisgarh. Dr. Shalini Singh

Public Health Reserarcher, Bengaluru

Shalini is an Associate faculty at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health (BSPH), and a Senior Researcher with Johns Hopkins India, based in Bengaluru currently. She has 15 years of experience in India’s Primary Health Care and community health systems. She has worked with National Health Systems Resource Centre (NHSRC)  in New Delhi, providing policy and implementation support for ASHA and the Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centres. She also led the Universal Health Coverage pilots for the state of Karnataka while working at the Public Health Foundation of India.  A dentist with an MPH from BSPH, she is also a member of the Delta Omega Honor Society in the USA.

Dr Daksha Parmar

Associate Professor, Public Health, Mumbai

Dr. Daksha Parmar , Associate Professor at the School of Public Health, D Y Patil University Nerul, Navi Mumbai and earlier faculty of the Dept of Humanities and Social Sciences at Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati. Recipient of the prestigious Dr Yusuf Hamied Faculty Fellowship (2022) complete at  Mailman School of Public Health, Columbia University, USA April 2023. She has a doctorate in public health from the Centre of Social Medicine and Community Health, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.

Dr. Yogesh Jain

Public Health Physician

Dr. Yogesh Jain has an MD in Paediatrics but is a public health physician in practice. He has been primarily involved in ” primary health care’- through running community health programmes in central India. He has been involved in understanding technical and political issues through clinical care, observational research and training.  He is a strident believer in the state as the primary provider of social services and also that unbridled privatization is not the way forward in an unequal world in which we live.

Dr. Mekhla Krishnamurthy

Sociologist and Ethnographer of Healthcare and Agriculture.

Mekhala Krishnamurthy is Associate Professor of Sociology and Anthropology at Ashoka University and Senior Fellow at the Centre for Policy Research (CPR). She is an ethnographer of the state and economy in contemporary India and has researched and published extensively in the fields of healthcare and agriculture. Her cross-sectoral interest centres on the people of the state and the everyday life of public institutions and systems and leads a project that seeks to deepen and expand the understanding of the challenges and possibilities of building state capacity in democratic and federal India
