Ganapathy Murugan

With over 20 years of experience as a professional social worker and public health practitioner, I have specialized in large-scale program design, implementation, and leadership within the not-for-profit sector, along with pivotal roles in research, advocacy, policy development, and capacity building in the realms of health and nutrition. Currently an independent consultant, I’ve recently collaborated with the Centre for Policy Research, New Delhi, and WHO-SEARO. In this capacity, I leverage my comprehensive skill set to drive impactful projects and contribute meaningfully to the advancement of public health initiatives.

Formerly the Executive Director of the Public Health Resource Society, I played a key role in its establishment and growth. Managing diverse teams across multiple Indian states, I led initiatives in research, advocacy, and capacity-building. I established foundational frameworks and oversaw key operational functions. Serving as the member secretary of the governing body, I actively contributed to strategic decision-making and organizational development.

Having worked on projects for national and state governments, UN agencies, and entities like DFID and WHO, I bring a wealth of experience in evaluating and contributing to major government programs. I’ve authored numerous project reports, evaluations, research findings, and peer-reviewed publications.

In 2018, I transitioned to the USA and briefly worked with children with autism spectrum disorders, expanding my skill set. Passionate about making a positive impact on global public health, I’m open to collaboration and new opportunities. Let’s connect.
